Travel Diaries No. 4

I am now officially out of Paris, France and have made my journey all the way to Sabaudia, Italy. Today wasn’t too eventful but it was a lot of traveling.

We started packing in the morning at 7:30 am and headed to the subway/train. Once we got on the subway, we went directly to the Paris airport. This is my first ever big trip but I do believe I am becoming very good at locating my way around a subway and airport now! I am pretty proud of myself.

While we were waiting to board our plane, I got my homework done and had some Sunchips. When it was time to go, we went through the lines to get checked in. We got to the line where they check your bags and they made me take out all of my electronics and liquid items. THAT was very irritating. I read on the travel guide that I was allowed to bring liquids in a carry-on bag as long as it all fits into a gallon size Ziploc bag. Well, I passed the first plane inspection just fine but as soon as it was time for my second plane inspection, they decided that now it was only one-quart size bag per person. SO! I just had to pretend that my grandparents and I all got a bag and thankfully they let us through because let me tell you, I was NOT about to throw away any of my expensive makeup or creams. Nope. Nope. Nope.

After that, we took a bus to our plane and climbed the latter all the way up to enter the plane itself. I sat by the window on the plane and that was very nice. The first plane ride I couldn’t see the view, really, at all. On the plane ride, I listened to some Billie Eilish and read my book. It was only about a two-hour ride so there weren’t any wonderful movies like “Love, Simon.” But that was alright because I ended up sleeping for the remaining hour anyway.

When it was time to get off the plane, we had to go grab our luggage and I went to go buy a cappuccino and a Kit-Kat bar. Honestly, the Kit-Kats in the United States are so much better as far as flavor. We really know how to do our junk food right. Ha! Afterward, we were on our way to go rent a car.

We arrived at the car rental shop and started packing up our rented vehicle. Then, we started driving…

OH MY GOODNESS…

Driving in Italy is absolutely bizarre.

I was scared for my life for the whole entire time.

People drive so fast around here and they switch lanes like crazy. No turn signals. Everyone cuts everyone off. I would’ve crashed the car by now if I were the one driving.

As we were driving and I was looking out the window, I noticed how desert- and farm-like the area is. But it also has mountains! The temperature is pretty hot but at night it cools down perfectly.

Our hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It is probably one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been to. It is right on the ocean and the way the building is designed is so beautiful. There is a beach here and a restaurant and I am just so excited to adventure through the hotel.

We ordered cappuccinos and sat on the outside deck and watched the beautiful, still ocean as we sipped our coffee. This place is honestly a paradise.

I am going to be traveling to a bunch of areas in Italy and some nights I won’t even stay at this hotel but I will for about eight days at some point on the trip. I absolutely cannot wait to enjoy the peacefulness of the beach and soak my feet in the ocean as the warm sun hugs my skin. Life here will be very enjoyable.

I am not sure what exactly I will be seeing here so that makes every day a completely new adventure. What an absolute thrill.

Today’s blog wasn’t a long one but I do have some beautiful pictures for you guys so please, enjoy!

Love,

Laurel and Italy ❤
